David Bowie. Whoa.
People may wonder why I haven’t yet done a Bowie tribute. Well, the biggest reason is that, for the most part, David Bowie is not a psychedelic artist. I might go so far as to say he was anti-psychedelia. He was experimental, keen on constraint and form, and exploratory over the trajectory of his 40+ year career. With that said, today’s show is a collection of works from 1965 to 1977 that I think highlight the experimental, what some have called “art rock”, of David Bowie.
These selections will be followed by psychedelic covers of Bowie songs by some contemporary bands, notably The Flaming Lips!
An hour of Bowie originals, and then some covers/tributes.
Turn on. Tune in.
