Welcome to another two hours of psychedelic music from around the world on Global Psychedelia, WEFT 90.1 FM and streaming live at weft.org every Saturday from 2-4PM.
On the tail of last week’s free jazz, free improvisation, freak out! I wanted to play that delightful mix of noise and rock musics that I love so well. Today’s playlist will include artists from Japan, China, Germany, Portugal, Russia, and the USA, but will focus mostly on Japan as that is the locus of my main musical interests and study. I will note the names of each country in parenthesis next to the band’s name. If you’ve been listening to previous shows through speakers, that’s awesome, but i recommend you put on a great pair of headphones–even if that means borrowing them–and turn it up until it’s almost uncomfortable, but not quite. You’ll catch a lot of what’s usually unheard in these contemporary sonic symphonies.
“why something and not nothing? why music and not noise?”
